Having served in college as an intern on U.S.
Senator Claiborne Pell's staff in Washington, D.C.,
Mr. Wigand entered the world of business upon
graduation.   In short order he was the department
manager for an automotive retailer, and within a
couple of years  was named by BMW of North
America.

Scoring in the top 15% on the LSAT, he entered law
school to advance his career.  After graduating and
passing the bar exams of Rhode Island and
Massachusetts, he became General Counsel for a
chain of automobile dealerships.

In that role Attorney Wigand served as part of the
executive management team as this group grew to
represent twenty franchises, including Ferrari,
Rolls-Royce, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and
Porsche, eventually becoming the largest chain in
Southeastern New England.

Establishing the current practice in 1996, he
concentrates on management-side employment law
and labor law (primarily union avoidance).

He has provided union avoidance services for
Fortune 500 companies on a subcontract basis, most
notably in 1998 though 2000 being embedded in a
"big three" airline, charged with managing its
front-line union avoidance efforts for Washington,
D.C., NYC. and Boston - successfully repelling two
major organizing drives targeting multiple
departments and thousands of employees within his
area of responsibility.  He has also provided
subcontract services for projects involving another
"big three" airline and a publicly traded multi-state
chain of hospitals.

Attorney Wigand has provided HRCI certified
human resources training to national audiences,
and is co-author of the 2009 edition of the
LexisNexis
publication Labor and Employment in Rhode Island.
